• Can the paper be submitted if part of it has been presented but not published?

Yes, as long as the entire paper was not presented. It must have some new elements (i.e. additions to research after presentation).

• Can the abstract already be published?

Yes, as long as the full paper was not submitted or accepted for publication elsewhere.

• Can the abstract be submitted for the AUA National Meeting and/or other national urology/ medical meetings concurrently with the Diokno Lapides Essay Contest?

Yes.

• Must the primary author personally present the essay and accept the award at the Diokno Lapides Awards Dinner?

Yes, awardees must be in attendance to collect their prize. If the annual AUA conference has been moved to fully virtual awards will be shipped to the winners.

• How will the award money be distributed?

All prize money will be issued by check ONLY. We are unable to wire transfer or issue payment in any other way at this time. Please be aware of this as you submit your essay for consideration.

• What if there is more than one author?

If an essay is submitted by a group, the first author will be considered the sole winner, primary author, and receive all correspondence. ​The winner primary author will be expected to present the paper and officially receive the award.

• Can more than one paper be submitted?

No. Please submit your best research project.

• How do I know if you have received my entry?

You will be contacted by someone within 48 hours. If it has been over 48 hours and you have not heard from a Diokno-Lapides representative please email Diokno.Lapides@gmail.com.​

• My question has not been answered here, who do I contact?​
